WWE Smackdown Live Results – April 2, 2019

We see several members of the SmackDown roster getting ready for a multi-team mixed-gender match, up next.

Heavy Machinery, The Hardy Boyz, R-Truth, Carmella, Asuka, Naomi, & Nikki Cross vs. Gallows, Anderson, Zelina Vega, Andrade, Shelton Benjamin, EC3, Lana, Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville

Lacey Evans walks down to interrupt early on in this one, then leaves.

Zelina and Nikki start this one off, and Zelina takes control with a choke over the ropes. Nikki fights back with a suplex, then EC3 and Jeff Hardy tag in. Jeff gets the upper hand, then Matt tags in for the double team on EC3. Matt hits the Side Effect for a two count. Otis tags in for the double team on EC3, then Otis hits The Caterpillar elbow drop. Andrade and R-Truth tag in, and Truth hits a series of shots in the corner. Carmella runs in for a 7 second dance break. Anderson runs in and drops Truth, then Zelina throws Carmella out. The aprons clear now and this one turns into a big brawl between the two teams. The ref calls for the bell as this match falls apart.

No contest

The brawl continues after the bell as they all try throwing each other out of the ring. It’s down to EC3, Jeff Hardy, and Asuka. Jeff hits the Twist of Fate on Ec3, then Asuka kicks him. Jeff throws EC3 outside. Jeff and Asuka hug, then Asuka throws Jeff out of the ring.

Preview: WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal

The female Superstars of Raw, SmackDown LIVE and NXT will compete in the second annual WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal on Sunday, April 7, WWE.com can now confirm.

The complete free-for-all will begin with all participants in the squared circle at the same time. A competitor will be eliminated once they are thrown over the top rope and both of their feet touch the floor. The last woman remaining will be the victor.

Last year’s inaugural WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal left Naomi feeling the Glow when she emerged victorious in the groundbreaking match on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Will she make it two in a row? Or will another Superstar be determined enough to battle through the bedlam and propel herself into the spotlight?

So far, the following Superstars are confirmed for the all-out melee:

Fatal 4-Way Match to determine Asuka’s WrestleMania challenger next Tuesday on SmackDown LIVE

What is sure to be an intense Fatal 4-Way Match between Carmella, Naomi, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville will determine who will challenge SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka at WrestleMania.

The news was broken during Kayla Braxton’s exclusive interview with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Fire & Desire’s friendship has been on rocky ground as of late, as each’s interference in the other’s match against The Empress of Tomorrow backfired. Rose & Deville look to be back on the same page, but will that be the case when a championship opportunity at WrestleMania hangs in the balance?

Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville seem to be on the same page after last week’s miscommunications, but will a SmackDown Women’s Title Match at WrestleMania change things between them?

Asuka versus Sonya Deville (with Mandy Rose) in a Non Title Match

They lock up and Asuak with a front face lock but Sonya with a reversal. Asuka goes for the ankle and Sonya gets to the ropes. Sonya with kicks. Asuka with kicks and she sends Sonya face first into the mat. Asuka misses a round kick and Sonya with a rollup for a near fall. Asuka misses a missile drop kick and Sonya with a spear for a near fall. Sonya gets another near fall. Asuka with strikes and a pop up knee. Asuka with a running knee and Sonya goes to the floor.

Asuka kicks Mandy when Sonya moves. Mandy pulls the ring skirt and Sonya slips. Asuka with the Asuka Lock and Sonya taps out.

Winner: Asuka

After the match, Mandy checks on Sonya but Sonya is not happy with Mandy.

During the WWE Fastlane Kickoff show, Sam says he did not think that Mandy could be a credible threat for the title at this point but after the last few weeks, he thinks she could be. Beth says this could be her moment.

Kayla Braxton is in the back and she is with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Mandy is asked if her wins were due to chicanery and Asuka is more motivated. Mandy says that Asuka attacked them last week so Mandy is in Asuka’s head. Asuka is looking for any advantage. Mandy says it will be a long shot for Asuka to win. Sonya says that Mandy now has the edge.

EC3 stops by and he says Mandy’s name. He says he is between Raw and Smackdown and he is a hot commodity.

Sonya says we wait months to hear him speak and that is it? Sonya says that Mandy was not put on this Earth to flirt with a human tanning bed. Sonya tells EC3 to take a hike.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Asuka versus Mandy Rose (with Sonya Deville)

They lock up and Mandy with a wrist lock but Asuka with a reversal and snap mare. Asuka with a kick and side head lock. Mandy pulls Asuka by the hair and takes Asuka down but Asuka goes for a heel hook. Mandy gets to the ropes. Mandy sends Asuka to the apron but Asuka with a kick and then Asuka sees Sonya on the floor. Mandy with a front face lock as she pulls Asuka in from the apron. Asuka with an ankle lock and Sonya distracts Asuka.

Asuka with an O’Connor Roll and Mandy with a knee after Sonya distracts Asuka again. Mandy gets a near fall. Mandy with punches. Mandy with a suplex for a near fall. Mandy with an abdominal stretch into a front face lock. Asuka blocks a suplex and Asuka with a waist lock and octopus. Sonya looks under the ring for something and Mandy escapes the hold and gets a near fall. Mandy with a forearm and she pie faces Asuka. Asuka with a chop and more strikes. Mandy with an Irish whip but Asuka with a missile drop kick.

Asuka with strikes to Mandy and Asuka blocks a kick and Asuka with a back heel kick. Asuka with a running hip into the corner followed by a German suplex. Asuka with a sliding knee for a near fall. Asuka with kicks to the back but she misses a hip attack in the ropes. Mandy with a jumping knee for a near fall. Mandy sets for the Implant Buster but Asuka blocks it and hits a pop up knee. Asuak with forearms and Mandy gets a kendo stick from under the ring. Asuka misses a round kick and Mandy trips on the ring skirt and Asuks with a spinning back heel kick for the three count.

Winner: Asuka (Retains Championship)

Mandy Rose (with Sonya Deville) vs. Naomi

They lock up and Naomi with a drop kick and Naomi slides into a slap. Naomi goes for a slam but Mandy gets to her feet. Naomi with a spinning sit out jaw breaker. Sonya distracts Naomi and Mandy with a jumping knee and the Implant Buster for the three count.

Winner: Mandy Rose

After the match, Sonya and Mandy back up the ramp and Asuka comes up behind and she attacks Sonya and sends her into the wall. Asuka does the same to Mandy.

Preview: SmackDown Women’s Championship Asuka vs. Mandy Rose

Mandy Rose will get the opportunity to prove that the spotlight should always be on her when she challenges SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka at WWE Fastlane.

The Golden Goddess stunned the WWE Universe on the Feb. 19 edition of SmackDown LIVE when she not only stepped to The Empress of Tomorrow, but defeated Asuka in one-on-one competition. Of course, that came after Rose faked an eye injury to create an opening for herself.

In a WWE.com Exclusive interview announcing the match, The Golden Goddess boldly claimed that after their match, Asuka wasn’t ready for Mandy Rose. Will that be the case when the two clash for the SmackDown Women’s Championship? Find out at WWE Fastlane, Sunday, March 10, at 7 ET/4 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network!
